Child hunger can seem like an abstract idea and is just some terrible thing that happens to people you've never met, in other parts of the world, but for so many children that are right here in our community, it is their daily existence.

Child hunger can seem like an abstract idea.  It can seem like some terrible thing that happens to people you’ve never met, in other parts of the world, but for so many children that are right here in our community, it is their daily existence.

TN Food on Foot was founded as a Christian-based nonprofit organization that began providing nutritious food bags to the hungry and homeless in the Lakeway area to help underprivileged children. Although it originally began as a children’s ministry, God has grown it into an organization that now provides over 1200 food bags per month for both children and adults in the Lakeway area and surrounding counties.  In addition, over 300 food bags are distributed to local elementary and middle schools who have needy children.  Over 185 toiletry bags are given out each month as well as school supplies and backpacks. In 2013, over 1500 backpacks loaded with supplies were handed out to local children in need.  Food on Foot also distributes special religious holiday items.  This past Easter, they distributed 626 Easter baskets filled with goodies that were assembled with the help of First United Methodist church and each one included a bible that was donated by Lifeway Christian Store. At Christmas, they handed out 650 new toys and 636 pairs of new pajamas to children that otherwise might have had nothing.  Food on Foot’s hope for the future is that NO child will go hungry.
